DASH stands for Dynamic adaptable Streaming over HTTP. It makes it possible to stream excellent media material using a regular HTTP web server. MPEG-DASH functions similarly to Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), breaking up content into smaller chunks that are then sent via HTTP.
Like another streaming protocol, HLS, MPEG-DASH divides films into smaller parts and encodes each part at a variable quality level. This enables the streaming of videos at different quality levels as well as the ability to change between quality levels in the middle of the video.
